Player Feature – Kennedy Brown

Kennedy is playing in her rookie season with the Calgary Inferno after being drafted in the 9th round, of the 2017 CWHL entry draft. She was the 61st player taken in this year’s draft.

Kennedy is from Okotoks, Alberta and played her minor hockey with the Rocky Mountain Raiders, a midget AAA team with the Alberta Female Hockey League.

She played three years with the Raiders, and in 2016-2017, she helped lead the team to a historic season where they won a Provincial Championship, a Regional Championship, and were the winner of the Mac’s Midget Tournament.  That same year, she also helped the Raiders capture bronze at the 2016 Esso Cup, the Canadian national women’s midget hockey championship.

She has committed to the University of Saskatchewan, and will play for the Huskies starting in the 2018-2019 season.

Best moment as a player: Winning provincial finals against Calgary in my second year of Midget AAA

Favourite place outside of the rink: my house

A piece of advice you’d give young players: Set goals for yourself and don’t be afraid to prove people wrong
