PLAYER FEATURE: Iya Gavrilova

In Iya’s impressive rookie season with the Calgary Inferno she has been nominated for a CWHL Award for Rookie of the Year.  While considered a rookie to the Inferno, her impressive hockey resume sheds light on her talent.  She played previously with the Calgary Dinos where she was part of their CIS Championship team.  In the 2014/15 season she led the CIS in goals and plus/minus. She has played one season in the NCAA for the Minnesota Duluth, and a few games with the Minnesota White Caps, then in the Western Women’s Hockey League. Iya is also an Olympian and has played with the Russian Women’s Ice Hockey Team at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.
