“If we want to start a legacy we need to continue going through this season the way we were played last season,” said Erica Kromm as she reflected on the team’s Clarkson Cup Championship.

The team’s home opener takes place on Saturday, October 8 against Brampton at Winsport’s Markin MacPhail Centre (Arena A) during World Girls Hockey Weekend. This will be the first time the Inferno play a regular season game during the International event. Prior to puck drop, the Inferno will raise their first championship banner to celebrate the team’s Clarkson Cup victory over Montreal last season.
“Every goalie that is out there today can play, so that is really cool. We get to compete against each other every day and it will only bring out the best in us,” said the Inferno’s new goalie Emerance Maschmeyer who will join Genevieve Lacasse, acquired in the offseason and Inferno veteran Delayne Brian.

On Sunday, October 9 there will be a celebration of Minor Hockey in Calgary and will feature a special announcement before the game. This will also be the first time the Inferno play at the former home of the Calgary Flames, the Stampede Corral. All minor hockey players wearing their team jersey will receive complimentary admission.

Following the game, the Inferno will co-host a Fast Female Champ Chat presented by Fuelling Women Champions for girls aged 8-18 at the Boyce Theatre. Several CWHL Calgary Inferno players/Fast and Female Ambassadors will inspire and lead participants thru fun physical literacy activities, a yoga/dance party, inspirational chat/QA and an autograph session.
