Inferno players to lead Skills Development Camp

Calgary, Alta – Oct.10, 2018 – The Calgary Inferno have partnered with the Grindstone Award Foundation to introduce the Inferno Charity Skills Clinic, which will take place in early November 2018.

This event is a terrific opportunity for young female hockey players of all skill levels in the Calgary area to familiarize themselves with the game and interact with some of the best female players in the world.

The two-day clinic will feature members of the Inferno showcasing and teaching their on-ice skills, while sharing their in-depth knowledge of the game to aspiring female hockey players. The Inferno possess a wealth of experience, ranging from playing collegiate hockey to competing in the Gold Medal game at the Winter Olympics.

“The ability to have Grindstone and the Inferno collaborate on an event like this will only aid in the growth of female hockey locally and allow us to help keep female hockey players on the ice,” Dominique Di Rocco General Manager Grindstone Award Foundation.

The Grindstone Award Foundation is a charity that enables young female players to participate and improve their skill development in the sport of hockey. The intent is to provide support to communities across Canada and address the needs of players who have a desire to play, but are unable for financial reasons. The Foundation provides grants to female players under the age of nineteen who have expressed a desire to pursue their goals in athletics.

“Being involved in the community has always been important to the Inferno and to the league [CWHL] as a whole. A big part of why we are playing is that we are trying to grow the game and events like this get us into the community with people who might not otherwise tryout the sport,” expressed Inferno forward Dakota Woodworth. “We have the opportunity to develop relationships with younger players who may have never tried hockey before. It should be a great experience for the kids and fun for us as well.”
