Inferno Announce 2017-18 Team

After an intensive training camp, the Calgary Inferno have named 24 players to their 2017-2018 active roster.

This year’s roster includes nine returning players from last season, including forward Iya Gavrilova, defence Hayleigh Cudmore, and veteran goalie Delayne Brian. Gavrilova finished last year’s rookie season with 21 points in 20 games.

New head coach Tomas Pacina says the team is excited about the upcoming season, and coming together as a group. “For us as Calgary Inferno, growing means seeing things differently than in the past. Seeing more options and less limitations.” Last season ended in a disappointing 3-1 loss to Montreal in the Clarkson Cup final, but Pacina says the team is focusing on the upcoming season, rather than the past. “I don’t think that losing is on our minds at all. We know that by growing each and every day the results will be the automatic byproduct of our actions and beliefs.”

The Inferno open their season on the road in Boston against the Blades October 21 before coming back to Calgary for their home opener on October 28 against the Kunlun Red Star. The game takes place at 4:15pm at the Max Bell Centre, and is the first visit to Calgary by one of the two new Chinese teams added to the league for the 2017-2018 season.
