Calgary, Alta – Nov. 16 – After facing off as rivals at the Four Nations Cup, nine Calgary Inferno players will rejoin their teammates this weekend to take on the Toronto Furies for the first time this season.
With the Inferno on a regular-season hiatus since October 28, the Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays edged their way into the number-one ranked spot in the CWHL, during what was a break for the Four Nations Cup for most of the league. Shenzhen has laced up for league play five more times than the Inferno, playing a total of 11 regular-season games to the Inferno’s six. The now-second-ranked Inferno look to topple the 3-4-0 sixth place Furies and work their way back to the number one spot.
Furies’ forwards Natalie Spooner and Julie Allen will look to challenge the Inferno to bolster Toronto’s standings. Annie Belanger or Lindsey Post will get the start as Alex Rigsby is not traveling with the team this weekend. As the Furies try to deny the Inferno a pair of road wins, Brianna Decker, fresh off of a Team USA Gold Medal, will try and keep the momentum going and lock down a win for Calgary.
The puck drops Saturday, November 17 at the Mastercard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Toronto at 7:00 PM and at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 18.
The Inferno are back in Calgary for a pair of highly anticipated home games against Les Canadiennes de Montreal on November 24 and 25 at WinSport.
