Calgary Inferno to Hit the Airwaves on The Fan

Calgary, Alta – October 15, 2018 – The Calgary Inferno are excited to announce a new partnership with Sportsnet 960 The Fan that will allow fans to listen in to four Inferno home games live on the air throughout the regular season.

“We are proud to be the first commercial radio station in North America to do live play by play of the CWHL,” said Kelly Kirch, Program Director of Sportsnet 960 The Fan. “Calgary is a hockey city; this is another piece of our hockey puzzle. This is high level hockey – we are all excited to give the Inferno some more profile with our audience.”

Featuring the play by play from Sandra Prusina, the broadcast home games are:

  • Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays on Oct. 21,
  • Markham Thunder on Dec. 1,
  • Toronto Furies on Dec. 16, and
  • Worcester Blades on Feb. 10.

In addition to the four games, Sportsnet 960 The Fan will also line up a new weekly half-hour show, every Saturday at 10 a.m., covering the Inferno and women’s hockey. The show, which will feature the stories behind the Inferno, will be hosted by Prusina. Those shows will start October 20 – the same day as the Inferno’s home opener against Shenzhen – and will run through the season until March 9.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the Inferno to be covered by The Fan,” remarked general manager Kristen Hagg. “As we work in the community to spread our following, this radio broadcast will give fans another chance to connect with and support the team.”
