Brittany Esposito has been on fire since returning from her injury, scoring two goals in Saturday’s game including setting up the game winner in yesterday’s game against the Toronto Furies. Esposito notes that a couple of keys to the Inferno’s success is “working hard and playing together as a team.”
The Furies made a comeback getting two goals just 33 seconds apart. Prevost scored 43 seconds into the third with assists from Julie Allen and Shannon Stewart. Jenna Dingeldein scored to cut the Inferno’s lead down to two-goals. After Toronto scored their two goals early in the third period to make it a two-goal game, Gosling made a great defensive play to keep their two-goal lead.
“We laid off a bit when we came out [in the third period] obviously that’s not a good thing, but coach pulled us in and we did a good job rebounding and finishing off strong” said Gosling. “It was a team strategy of just playing our game and winning the battles, yesterday we did come out a little slow, so today we were just focusing on the little things and as a team, we did a great job.”
Esposito scored the empty net goal, sealing the Furies Fate, with a 6-3 win over the Furies. Shots on net were 11-5 in the third period and 33-23 in favour of the Furies.
