Calgary Inferno Players Named to Team Canada’s World Championship Team

Calgary, AB – Nine Calgary Inferno players have been named to the Team Canada roster of 23 for the 2017 IIHF World Championships in Plymouth, Mich. March 31 to April 7.

Those in the selection include goaltenders Genevieve Lacasse and Emerance Maschmeyer, defender Meaghan Mikkelson and forwards Bailey Bram, Sarah Davis, Haley Irwin, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston and Blayre Turnbull.

The team will be looking for redemption, to bring home the gold medal after winning the silver medal at last year’s World Cup.

Before the players join their World Cup teammates to prepare for the competition next month, they will be focused on the CWHL Clarkson Cup Championship game against Les Canadiennes de Montreal. In addition to the nine Inferno, two Les Canadiennes will represent Canada at the Worlds. 40 of the best female hockey players in the country will battle it out in Ottawa and on Sportsnet Sunday, March 5 2PM MT/4PM ET.
